This position is located within the State Preparedness Training Center in Oriskany. Duties include but are not limited to:
o Winterize SWFT at end of training season. o Open SWFT at beginning of training season. o Conduct water system testing, analyze results, and adjust filtration system or add chemicals as needed to maintain water quality. o Conduct backwash of filter system. o Daily checks of UV system to ensure working properly. o Daily checks of pumps to ensure working properly. o Daily checks of VFDs and other electrical equipment in pump house. o Responsible for the operation, preventive maintenance, and repair of water treatment systems, such as chlorination systems, deionized water systems, UV systems and ph adjustment systems. o May perform maintenance and repair of various types of water and pumping or filtration treatment equipment. o Respond to calls concerning mechanical, electrical or plumbing breakdowns to troubleshoot the problem, make necessary repairs if possible or call-in appropriate contractor services to correct the problem. o Serve as primary liaison and contact with variety of third-party maintenance, warranty, and support vendors. o Perform maintenance and repair of the various types of water pumping and filtration treatment equipment. o Handle various types of hazardous materials such as sodium hypochlorite (pool chlorine), hydrochloric acid, fuel, propane, solvents, biocides, nitrates, regulated waste and refuse. o Work in confined space situations using personal protective equipment. o Survey and monitor equipment and systems operation to determine the most efficient mode of operation; read gauges and meters and refer to technical instructions and/or operating manuals to determine if equipment is operating according to specifications. o Keeps written records of maintenance performed, water quality, meter readings, etc and prepares incident reports of unusual events, such as equipment malfunctions; and orders parts necessary for on-going preventive maintenance programs or to carry out equipment repair or replacement. o Responsibility for the operation, maintenance, and repair of highly complex equipment which must be operated in strict accordance with technical and safety policy and procedures. o Failure to exercise good judgment or follow appropriate procedures could result in personal injury or death, in damage to equipment or facilities, or in an incident having potential environmental impact or safety concerns. o Possession and maintenance of a valid Driver's License issued by the NYS Department of Motor Vehicle is required, or otherwise demonstrate the capacity to meet the transportation needs of the job.

Salary Range:
From $47530 to $58016 Annually
Minimum Qualification
Four years of full-time experience in a trade under a skilled tradesperson which would provide training equivalent to that given in a training, apprenticeship, or equivalent program; or an equivalent combination of experience and training gained by completion of technical courses in skilled trades at a school, institute, or branch of the Armed Services. This information should be on the letterhead of the employer under whom the qualifying experience was gained and include names and titles of supervisors, duties performed during the training period and specific dates of employment and be signed by that employer. o Candidates qualifying through the completion of appropriate course work should include a copy of their transcript or listing of course work completed. o A copy of a trades union card is acceptable documentary proof of qualification. o Candidates who do not submit appropriate documentary proof that they meet the minimum qualifications will not be considered for appointment. Per Agreement between the Civil Service Employees Association, Inc. and the State of New York, Article 45 (c) the requirement to prove qualification shall rest with the employee.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
